About the Event
The 12th Annual Johnny Shines Blues Festival will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the McAbee Activity Center, located at 3801 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35404. The Big Time Rhythm and Blues Band from Greenville, Mississippi will be the highlighted guest for the event. Kent DuChaine will also be on hand to entertain the crowd, and he is always a crowd pleaser! Local students from the Alabama Blues Project will also take the stage at 2 p.m. along with Bougie Boogie Line Dancing and several other entertainers. Proceeds from this event will sponsor Johnny Shines Blues Scholarships to underprivileged children who want to learn to play musical instruments, particularly the guitar, as that was Johnny Shines’ instrument of choice.
